Essential oils and Hydrosols are mostly made by steaming plant material in a still. This process is called Distillation. As the raw material boils, the steam passes through a tube and then cools down causing the oils and water to separate. The concentrated oil becomes the essential oil, while the remaining fragrant water, containing the plant's water-soluble components, is called hydrosol.
